Brene Brown is one of the most popular authors and speakers in the world today. If you've ever heard her, you know why. She is honest, refreshing, and authentic. She is the exact person who if I ever got a chance to meet, I would want to be her best friend (knowing we would have a blast and she would help keep me honest).
This book is a continuation of her earlier books, but you can read this as a stand alone and get everything you need out of it. The great managers have realized that there is a humanity needed to be great. There is failure, vulnerability, doubt, and the difficulty of maintaining balance both physically and mentally. This book discusses those elements with incredible detail and thought.
One of the great things is that Mrs. Brown doesn't believe you should be totally vulnerable. She understands the need to only be as vulnerable as you can, which means there is no right or wrong way to be vulnerable. It is a matter of building trusting relationships around you and knowing yourself.
I highly recommend this book. This is geared towards managers, but can be helpful to read and discuss as a team.
