What is the Great Manager Operating System?
The Great Manager Operating System is a middle manager system that teaches you the mindset and behaviors needed to be a Great Manager. These behaviors have been refined and tested for over 15 years and have been proven to work. It is designed for new managers, however, managers of any experience level can learn from these behaviors.
Does this system apply to any manager, regardless of industry, company size, or experience level?
I've taught this system to managers in every industry, in companies of all sizes, and with experienced and novice managers, and it has worked. I've taught it to for-profit and not-for-profit organizations as well. The only exception is the mindset of the manager. You have to make changes and you have to be willing to try things. If your default mindset is the status quo, this system is not for you.
How fast will I see results?
Everyone is different, so results will vary. However, because we focus on behaviors that are learned and implemented quickly, most people see some results very quickly, usually in the first few weeks. As these behaviors start to stack and build on each other, the results just continue.
Can I really learn everything in 90 days?
It takes 90 days to learn and implement, but it takes a lifetime to perfect. No manager, and I mean NO MANAGER, is perfect. These skills take constant refinement and practice. Consider it like any sport: you can practice and get good, but if you don't keep practicing, you'll lose the skill.
What if my company won't like me implementing one of the behaviors?
This has never been a problem. In fact, we address this in the Manager Mindset portion of the system. Nothing in here is illegal or even controversial. Everything is proven to work. And to be honest, your organization doesn't pay that much attention to how you get things done, they only pay attention to if it gets done.
Will this work on my team? We are a little unique here.
Simply put, yes. This system is built and tested with teams of every size, in different industries, and in different organizational cultures. The behaviors taught are common in every situation. Will your team have some unique aspects? Of course, but the behaviors are flexible enough, and you will become expert enough, to adapt them to your needs. You get to use it in your org while you learn, and get feedback and coaching on how to apply it to your team.
